560_Shulthis_GrandstandOn Wednesday, May 13, 2015, the Independence City Commission and Independence School Board both voted not to allow any fundraising for the preservation of Shulthis Grandstand, and voted for the destruction of the grandstand. Both had previously voted to allow fundraising for destructive remodeling of the grandstand but were not successful in finding donors to pledge money for their plans. No preservation plan has been created or considered as an option, and they refused to consider an offer to place the grandstand into the hands of a private restoration foundation.
